Project Overview
The project “Cross-Border Actions for Prevention of Disasters and Climate Change” (Prevent-DisCC) is part of the INTERREG VI-A “Greece-Cyprus 2021-2027” Cooperation Programme and unites Greece and Cyprus in a common mission: the prevention of natural disasters and the tackling of the effects of climate change. The total budget of the project amounts to €2.086.451,00, of which the Community Contribution (ERDF) is €1.669.161,00.
Through modern forecasting tools, digital technologies, and awareness actions, the project brings local communities, institutions, and civil protection teams closer, aiming for a more resilient and safer Mediterranean.
At the core of Prevent-DisCC lies prevention, education, and cooperation for the management of forest fires and natural disasters. The project creates joint infrastructures, develops early warning systems, and offers practical tools for the protection of people and the natural environment before a crisis turns into a disaster.
The main target groups that will benefit from the Prevent-DisCC project and its results include:
Local communities in Greece and Cyprus
Local Government Authorities and Regional Organisations
Volunteer rescue and forest firefighting teams
Business and professional associations
Academic and Research Institutions
