2nd Online Training Seminar of the project Prevent-DisCC

The 2nd Online Training Seminar of the project “Prevent-DisCC – Cross-Border Actions for Disaster Prevention and Climate Change” was successfully held, with the participation of staff from the competent departments of the Municipalities of Rhodes and Kourion.

The Training Seminars are implemented under the scientific responsibility of CERTH / HIT, with the active contribution of its scientific staff, within the framework of actions aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation and promoting knowledge transfer among the involved stakeholders.

🔎 Seminar topics:

· Forecasting Models & Scenario Development: Development of realistic wildfire spread scenarios

· Field Sampling & Forest Area Analysis: Use of UAVs and robotic systems

🎙️ The invited speaker was Dr. Thanasis Sfetsos, Research Director at the Environmental Research Laboratory of the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, specializing in climate change and the protection of critical infrastructure.

📄The training activities continue with new thematic modules, contributing to the formulation of a common prevention strategy for wildfires and natural disasters, as well as a coherent framework for operational preparedness.
